Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the inspection and testing of products and/or materials at various stages of the production process to ensure that products fulfill Customer specifications. Provides support to Technicians and Engineers in data collections, investigations and analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for inspecting the quality and conformance of products and materials at various stages of the production process to ensure the product meets the specifications of the blueprint, job order and customer requirements.
  • Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and/or standards to confirm product requirements. Compare product to requirements and ensure completion of operation.
  • Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and ensures the shipping and packaging conforms to specified standards.
  • Identify product imperfections and/or damage. Performs repairs as directed through the non-conforming material review board process, or through defined rework processes.
  • Reject defective parts and record type of defect on part, container of parts or inspection tag as required. Ensure segregation of defective parts or materials.
  • Conduct various tests and quality checks on products. Ensure that all products have been inspected and/or tested to standards, specifications and within tolerances.
  • Actively participate in the disposition of non-conforming products, corrective and preventative action, and continuous improvement activity.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and confer with Management or Engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Operate any diagnostic equipment needed to perform the job, such as: hand gages, comparators, and CMM equipment.
  • Record and maintain test data as required, and process data and transactions with ERP system.
  • Assists with Aavid Niagara's Quality Management System, recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Aavid Niagara policies and procedures.
  • Participates as an auditor for ISO/AS9100 standards.
  • Skills & Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree Required.Applicable level of experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience with GD&T and/or CMM is desirable, but not mandatory
  • Strong attention to detail and is a team player for problem solving
  • Proven oral and written communication and proofreading skills required.Must be detail orientated and proficient user of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools and proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Manufacturing work environment with multiple operations (machine shop, mechanical equipment, assembly, shipping, receiving, warehousing, fork lifts, quality environmental lab etc.) with regular exposure to moving mechanical systems.

    Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and to stand for long lengths of time with or without accommodation.

    Noise level in the work environment is low to moderate
