Broker- Freight / Logistic Management Sales

Office location Neville Island (Pittsburgh), PA
90% office / 10% Travel


The Logistics / Freight Broker will be required to develop new business and maintain and expand current client sales.
The Broker will be responsible for the full sales cycle; prospecting, relationship building, customer service and operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor s degree (Preferred)
  • Previous sales experience in the Freight / Logistics Management industry required
  • Need to be very proficient in US Geography (Understanding regions of throughout US)
  • Must have strong math skills to understand percentages, rate calculations, weights and measures
  • Strong interpersonal skills, specifically the ability to persuade and communicate via phone
  • Ability to remain resilient in a competitive environment
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and also part of a group as needed
  • Confidently making good decisions under time pressure; Thrives in a fast paced environment that requires problem solving and strong decision making
  • Must be adaptable to changing needs of clients
  • Effective follow-up skills

Responsibilities:
  • Develop a working relationships with users (shippers) and carriers
    • Will be ultimately responsible for building a book of business and developing lasting relationships.
    • Must have excellent phone skills in addition to excellent writing skills (computer)
    • Must be able to achieve weekly / monthly goals and maintain revenue and margin targets
  • Source, secure and manage the transportation needs of new and existing customers.
  • Take a proactive approach with finding freight and developing new business (Researching and cold calling); Focus on contacting manufacturers or shippers to obtain cargo opportunities.
  • Develop In-depth knowledge of customers product and services; Track transportation requirements for clients
  • Requires daily conversations about freight lanes, rates and solutions the company has to offer to their customers.
  • Manage transportation needs of clients; Making multiple phone calls per day to service customer s needs by making arrangements for pick-up and delivery based on customer requirements.
  • Manage operational activities of loads to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Building long term relationships with clients
  • Negotiate client and carrier freight rates.
  • Be the liaison between shipper and carrier
  • Manage and resolve service issues through to the point of resolution
  • Working closely with a team of associates to improve processes


Schedule, Compensation, & Benefits Overview:
  • Typical Schedule is Monday Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Salaried position based on experience. Plus incentive program
