CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
The Distribution Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily work flow activities of the Distribution Department. The individual will possess the ability to work in all areas of the warehouse and direct team members to accommodate any workflow increase. This involves coordinating the shipping of material to DENTSPLY North America (DNA) distribution center, resolving any issues surrounding those orders, processing of RMAs, reconciling cycle counts, running and preparing several reports, monitoring and reconciliation of those reports, helping out where needed and driving the company truck on occasions.
Follow all pertinent company Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
Help coordinate the daily work flow activities.
Accurately evaluate and help resolve issues that arise concerning inventory or work flow.
Help coordinate the delivery and pick up of other shipments by the company truck.
Help assess the need for any additional truck run to DNA and help get the truck out on time for the designated runs.
Helps with processing RMAs and coordinating the re-boxing of them (if applicable) with each manufacturing group.
Investigates and resolves with DNA, any issues preventing the shipment of customer orders.
Coordinates with DNA the process of converting case quantities to single quantities in order to maintain proper stocking levels for applicable material.
Perform drop shipments when required.
Reconcile the cycle counting, performing root cause analysis on any discrepancies and chart the root causes.
Drive company truck as a backup and perform pre-trip checks on the truck.
Schedule truck for maintenance.
Orders shipping and warehouse supplies.
Operate all material handling equipment including the stand up and sit down lift trucks in a safe manner. Completes the daily checklist for the equipment as required.
Communicate and interact with other associates and departments in a professional manner.
Back up for environmental monitoring.
Monitor and stock rotate through the Government Disaster Response stock location in DNA environment.
Monitor warehouse 33 and non-inventory material stored at DNA. Keeping accurate and up to date records of what is stored there.
Train or assist in training of personnel.
Assist Warehouse Supervisor with projects.
Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Performs related work and other duties as required.
Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) for work being performed.
Operates the stand up and sit down lift trucks in a safe manner. Completes the daily checklist.
Ensures that scales being used are within calibration inspection range.
Keeps current with process and work practices of all areas in the warehouse. Performs jobs occasionally in all areas to keep familiar with the functions and responsibilities of those areas.
Receive certification in shipping of hazardous material.
Training and Experience
High school or high school equivalency diploma.
At least 2 years of experience in inventory control or a manufacturing environment.
Have a valid PA drivers license and pass the DOT physical.
License to operate lift truck and other warehouse equipment or ability to achieve this license; ability to operate equipment safely.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Must have the ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Internet Explorer, Excel and MS Word.
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or other similar ERP system. Knowledge of warehouse functions, freight systems, and Bill of Lading.
Attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to resolve problems.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations and solve practical problems.
Ability to read and understand SOPs and other policies and procedures.
Frequently required to walk, stand, sit and bend over.
Occasionally required to climb stairs and ladders.
Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Have normal eye/hand motor coordination and the ability to grasp small objects.
Possess a normal extended reach.
Have the ability to determine colors and possess near acuity.
Able to use a personal computer and other office equipment, unassisted.
Be able to pass the DOT physical.
Steel tip shoes are required and safety glasses in designated areas.
The Manufacturing plant environment as well as warehouse, dock, offices and outside conditions: Exposure to variations in temperature, dust, fumes, noise, weather and atmospheric conditions.
